The conference will take place over a packed three days and will focus on what we can learn from young people and how we can get them involved in the management of our National Parks.
Day one will start with a heartfelt personal account of how nature has changed one young person’s life, followed by three key-note speakers. Our speakers have been instrumental in inspiring others to reconnect with nature and they will share their experiences about why reconnection is so critical and how direct exposure to nature is essential for our physical and emotional health. A panel discussion will then open the debate to the audience.
After lunch there will be a full menu of afternoon workshops covering a vast array of topics, including a Youth Workshop for delegates under 30 on how young people can take the lead for nature. Delegates will select their preferred option at booking.
On day two the fantastic Cairngorms National Park awaits as the delegates will embark on their selected field trip to explore the highlights of the Park and see some of the projects that have taken place here.
To close on day three a delegation of young people will present their Youth Manifesto to the conference. This will set out what simple actions we can take to support young people in becoming more involved in nature and the outdoors. The afternoon will offer the chance to share good ideas and successes as delegates visit the Market Place.
After all the day’s activities, there will be a chance to unwind in the evening and share the day’s experiences with fellow delegates – whilst enjoying some traditional Scottish highland hospitality!
